About the One Ring:

The One Ring, also known as the Ruling Ring, Great Ring of Power, and Isildur's Bane, was an ancient artifact created by the Dark Lord Sauron for the purpose of ruling over Middle-earth.

Sauron lost the Ring in the River Anduin at the Gladden Fields just before he was killed in an Orc ambush, and there the Ring remained hidden in the riverbed for almost two and a half millennia until a Stoor named Déagol discovered it on a fishing trip. His friend and cousin Sméagol stole the Ring, murdering Déagol in the process. Over a lengthy four and a half centuries, Sméagol was changed and contorted by the Ring’s influence until he eventually morphed into the creature known as Gollum.

Gollum classically referred to the Ring as "my precious" or "precious", and it extended his life far beyond its natural limits. As the centuries of its influence continued to twist his body and mind, he came to simultaneously love and hate the Ring, as he in turn loved and hated himself. From the very moment he laid eyes on it on that fateful day by the river, he had become locked in an all-consuming struggle, torn between his lust for the Ring and his desire to be free of it, until at last the Ring abandoned him, knowing that it would never leave the cave whilst he bore it.

The Ring was later found by Frodo’s cousin, Bilbo Baggins, who took it for his own, leaving Gollum to obsessively pursue it for the rest of his life. In a climactic moment, he finally seized the Ring from Frodo Baggins at the Cracks of Doom in Mordor, but after an ensuing struggle fell into the fires of the volcano, where both he and the Ring met their fiery deaths.

We recommend having your finger sized by a jeweler prior to ordering, as this is the most accurate way to find out your ring size. Many jewelers actually offer their ring sizing services for free. To get the most accurate size, we recommend visiting at least two different jewelers. Tungsten wedding bands cannot be resized due to the durability and strength of the metal, so please make sure to select the correct ring size when ordering.
